First: Accept Your Reality
The worst thing you can do is compare yourself to a classmate who does nothing but study all day. Your situation is different and your strategy must be different too.
You do not need eight hours of study time every day. Research consistently shows that focused study of two to three hours daily produces better results than unfocused study of six to eight hours. Quality beats quantity every time.
Step 1: Find Your Study Windows
Look at your daily routine and identify the small pockets of time that are currently being wasted. Most busy students are surprised by how much time they actually have once they look carefully.
Common study windows busy students overlook:
- Early morning before work or household duties begin ā even 45 minutes is valuable
- During lunch or meal breaks
- While commuting ā listen to recorded notes or review flashcards
- In the evening after dinner before sleep
- Sunday mornings before the week begins
You do not need one long study session. Three focused 45 minute sessions spread across the day add up to well over two hours of quality study time.
