How to Balance Work and Studies When Preparing for Exams

Step 6: Take Care of Your Body

A tired body produces a tired brain. Students who are overworked and undersleeping cannot retain information no matter how hard they try.

Even with a busy schedule:

  • Aim for at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep every night
  • Eat properly — your brain needs fuel to function
  • Take short walks or do light exercise — it improves concentration significantly
  • Do not skip meals on study days

Step 7: Have a Weekly Plan Not Just a Daily One

When life is unpredictable a rigid daily timetable often fails. A weekly plan is more forgiving.

At the start of each week:

  • List all the topics you need to cover that week
  • Assign them to available days without being too rigid about exact times
  • If Monday’s session gets disrupted shift it to Tuesday
  • Review at the end of the week what you covered and what needs more attention

This flexible approach keeps you on track even when life gets in the way.
